After some initial hesitation, author John Grisham is soon expected to add his titles to the e-book catalog, Grisham’s agent say. “E-books will become the go-to-first format for an ever-expanding group of readers who are newly discovering how much they enjoy reading books on a screen,” said Markus Dohle, chief executive of Random House.

Paramount acquired movie rights to The Associate, Shia LeBeouf to play the title role

Paramount Pictures has picked up Shia LaBeouf to play the title role in their adaptation of John Grisham’s upcoming legal thriller “The Associate,” which the studio has just acquired rights to. LaBeouf will play a student who’s about to graduate from Yale Law School when he’s manipulated into accepting a job at a prestige law firm and given privileged information about a multi-billion dollar lawsuit.

A Time to Kill & The Pelican Brief coming to Blu-ray

Warner Home Video has announced plans to release two John Grisham inspired movies A Time to Kill and The Pelican Brief for Blu-ray on February 10, 2009. Both movies will be making their high definition debut and be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD lossless audio.

Grisham hosted another legal aid benefit

Best-selling author John Grisham hosted a benefit for the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society and the Legal Aid Justice Center on Thursday, November 13. The event was held at Toad’s Place in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom and included an auction for naming rights in Grisham’s upcoming novel.

Plaintiffs ask court to reinstate Grisham suit

Three former Oklahoma law enforcement officials asked an appeals court on Nov 7 to reinstate their defamation lawsuit against authors, including John Grisham. The suit was filed last year against Grisham and two other writers over books the authors wrote about the wrongful conviction of 2 men in a 1982 murder.
