The Partner

Released: 2010 · In Development · Book Author (The Partner)

Coming soon!

Screenwriter Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, Nights in Rodanthe) has been hired to write the movie adaptation of John Grisham’s 1997 novel “The Partner”.

The project, from Oscar-winning producer Robert Chartoff (Rocky) and newcomer Velocity Management with producer Grant Turck, centers on a disillusioned lawyer who steals $90 million from his law firm, stages his own death and successfully disappears for several years. What at first seems to be a brilliant white-collar crime is further complicated by a murder charge.

FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY! I read this when I was 17 and fell in love with the book and Grisham’s writing. I said it would be the next movie when I finished it(little early on that prediction). The Testament 2011?!?

Just finished the book last night – so many possible scenarios came to mind at the end. Can’t wait to see the movie although I don’t agree with any of the post pics for who should play who. Anyway, I was afraid to read the last chapter but when I did I thought one of two things must have happened! Not to mention – I was involved in a semi-heated debate since I believe everyone got what they needed, deserved, or wanted at the end but not everyone believes that.

I have read the book several times, it is just like watching your favorite movie over and over. I would love to see who is going to play Patrik in the movie!

Way to go John Grisham, always the best.

I just finished this book. I have read most of his book and I gotta say this is one of his best books to date. I was not expecting an ending as it happended it had tons of twists and turns and a truly good read, cant wait for the movie. I only hope it is better the the runaway jury which was no where near as good as the book.

I just finished reading “The Partner” tonight. 2 weeks ago I finished “The Pelican Brief” and watched the movie; the movie sucked and a lot of detail was left out. Had I not read the book first I wouldn’t have understood what was going on, and it didn’t stickk true to the book.

“The Partner” is a great book, but the ending is NOT. I am seriously disturbed by the ending; no closure, no Eva, no nothing. I seriously hope Grisham writes a sequel to “The Partner” (after the movie is released), and I hope the movie is true to the book. Love his books, dislike his movies (they do not stay true to the books).

It’s been 13 years Grisham, it’s time for a sequel, it’s time for closure!

Also just finished the book and was totally absorbed by the complex situations and fascinated by “Patrick”. Maybe I’m just a romantic and want the “they lived happily ever after” finish. But felt cheated by the ending.

The book was a great read, but the ending was a total cheat. Why would Eva take off? It makes no sense whatsoever in the world created in the novel, or in terms of the character. If she planned to do that, why not do it from the beginning, or at any of a zillion other points in the book? If she didn’t love Patrick, she wouldn’t have done all of the things she dud to help him. It was just a stupid, stupid ending, simply for the sake of a twist.

exactly as FrankieAnon wrote it: the ending just a stupid, stupid & stupid. Grisham is successful in playing with the readers emotion, but really in a bad way. Not looking forward for the movie. :-(

I tore out the last 10 pages.
    Now it’s a great book.
