An evening with John Grisham in Kansas
John Grisham will visit Kansas City on May 10 as a point man in a benefit for the Midwestern Innocence Project, a non-profit organization created to assist prisoners who can be proven innocent through DNA testing.
It’s a good fit: Grisham’s latest book, The Innocent Man, is a nonfiction work dealing with a specific case that illustrates some serious hitches in the criminal justice system. Justice, supposedly blind, sometimes sees things in ways we didn’t think possible.
Grisham will speak at a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, 2345 McGee St. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. And tickets begin at $125, but remember, it’s dinner and a benefit. Table sponsorships also are available at various rates.
Sponsors are the Midwestern Innocence Project, the McKellar Group and Rainy Day Books.
