At some point, he would like to pick up where his 2001 novel A Painted House left off. Loosely based on his childhood in Arkansas, Grisham wants to explore his life from ages 12 to 22.
“That was some very turbulent times – the mid- to late-60s – growing up in the suburbs of Memphis when a lot of funny things happened,” Grisham said. “A lot of kids’ stories. A lot of baseball. But also some serious times. The civil rights conflict. The war in Vietnam. The disintegration of parental authority. All the stuff we lived through.
“But that book is a long ways off.”
